WTO Seminar for Journalists from Latin America

Latin-american journalists met with WTO Deputy Director-General Ms Johanna Hill, the Ambassador from Chile, senior officials from Ecuador and Guatemala as well as with many experts from the WTO secretariat, UNCTAD, OHCHR, NGOs and think tanks.

What exactly is the World Trade Organization and what is it not? How does the multilateral trading system work? What are the most current developments at the WTO? Which other international organizations based in Geneva are involved in trade policy? And how do non-governmental organizations and trade unions assess developments in and around trade policy? These and other questions were discussed during an intense week of training for journalists from Latin America reporting for local newspapers, television or radio programs on trade and economic issues.
