Delivering on the Promise of the GCM: Migration Justice Briefing Paper Series
In May 2022, the first International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) took place at the UN General Assembly in New York. In preparation of the IMRF and to work towards an ambitious, effective, and human rights-based discussion and outcome at the Forum, the Quaker United Nations Office (QUNO), with the support of FES Geneva Office, produced a series of short papers. The briefing paper series aims at reinforcing steps towards migration justice through delivering on the promise of people-centered migration governance contained in the Global Compact of Migration (GCM).
The IMRF was a steppingstone in delivering on the promise of the GCM, not an endpoint. The final paper in the series is looking at the outcomes of the IMRF. It is focusing on how the follow up to the IMRF and continued work on GCM implementation can provide further steps on the path towards migration justice.
