How Africa Eats – Trade, Food Security and Climate Risks

Book Launch & Panel Discussion: How Africa Eats – Trade, Food Security and Climate Risks

On November 13 took place the launch of “How Africa Eats”, edited by Prof. David Luke, hosted by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Geneva in collaboration with the LSE Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa. The book explores Africa’s food systems, trade dimensions, and the reforms needed to achieve sustainable and resilient food security.

Building on Luke’s earlier work “How Africa Trades”, this event highlighted how food systems connect to trade rules and economic transformation, while addressing urgent challenges such as climate change, market shocks, and structural import dependence. The discussion spotlighted African expertise and policy perspectives, offering concrete recommendations for a more equitable and sustainable future.
